By the end of 1977, photographs by David Hamilton were shown in New York at the Images Gallery. His photo books, feature films, photography for magazines, gallery and museum exhibitions all played a role in his success. In Paris, at the age of 20, he got to Peter Knapp in ELLE magazine and began working as a graphic designer.Īfter achieving success at ELLE and becoming a popular author, Hamilton moved to Queen magazine in London as an art director.Ĭhanging jobs, he became interested in photography and soon developed his own special, recognizable style. By the late 1960s, Hamilton developed a recognized style. The photographer has repeatedly become the cause of many scandals, as he often took pictures of children's nudity for his works. Hamilton's works were sold out by influential publications, his photobooks brought millions of dollars in profits, five films were released and countless exhibitions were held. After the end of the war, Hamilton returned to London, graduated from school and moved to France, where he lived all his life. The photographer and director David Hamilton was somewhat of a permanent resident of such debate and his suspected suicide recently has brought a number of questions to fruition. He had to interrupt his studies due to the outbreak of the Second World War and evacuate to Dorset, whose wonderful views and landscapes may have awakened the talent of the future photographer.
